    UAE and Finland leaders boost strategic partnership

    ABU DHABI, November 21, 2025: President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Alexander Stubb of the Republic of Finland met in Abu Dhabi on Friday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and advance cooperation in key sectors of mutual interest. The talks, held at Qasr Al Shati, reflected the two nations’ shared commitment to broadening their strategic partnership and supporting global peace and development. President Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Finnish leader on his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, conveying his best wishes for continued progress and prosperity to Finland and its people. The discussions covered a range of cooperation areas, including trade, investment, education, technology, space, and innovation sectors both countries view as vital to sustainable economic growth and diversification.

    During the meeting, the two presidents exchanged perspectives on current regional and international developments and emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue and diplomacy in resolving global challenges. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at achieving peace, stability, and prosperity through cooperation and mutual understanding. His Highness underscored the UAE’s interest in building on the progress made over the past five decades of diplomatic relations with Finland, noting that this year marks the 50th anniversary of their formal ties. He expressed confidence that President Stubb’s visit would help open new avenues of collaboration and reinforce joint efforts in development, innovation, and trade.

    Leaders reaffirm long-term vision for global cooperation

    Sheikh Mohamed also highlighted that the ongoing negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and a broader free trade framework between the UAE and the European Union mark a key milestone in expanding trade relations. He emphasized that such initiatives would enhance economic cooperation with Finland, given its position as a dynamic economy within the EU and a leading partner in technological advancement. President Stubb thanked His Highness for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation. He reaffirmed Finland’s strong interest in expanding its partnership with the UAE in sectors that promote long-term development and innovation. The Finnish President noted the growing momentum in bilateral relations and commended the UAE’s role in promoting sustainable growth and fostering international cooperation.

    Future opportunities to enhance mutual prosperity

    Both sides reaffirmed their determination to continue strengthening UAE–Finland ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration that serve their peoples’ aspirations for progress and prosperity. They also agreed to maintain coordination on regional and global matters of shared concern, with a focus on advancing mutual goals that contribute to global peace, stability, and economic resilience. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; and a number of ministers and senior officials from both nations. – By Content Syndication Services.
